    Note:

    After an apprenticship in the studio of Léon Cogniet, Fontaine was admitted to l'École des beaux-arts in 1838. He exhibited regularly at the Salon between 1845 and 1878. Isidore Dagnan was a French landscape painter, whose work consists chiefly of views in Southern France, Italy, and Switzerland.
