    This drawing dates from the artist's stay in Rome from 1784 - 1788. Sylvain Laveissière has seen the drawing and confirmed the attribution. Another drawing of the same size and technique and of the same subject in profile, was included in the 1998 retrospective at the Grand Palais, Paris and the Metropolitan Museum, New York, catalogue no. 16.
