Note:

This intimate portrait, the only known portrait of the famous ceramicist, was painted during the autumn 1887, perhaps at Académie Julian, maybe at Deheaulme de Vallombreuse’s apartment at 37 rue Jouffrey in Paris (located on the second floor overlooking a courtyard), where he lived from August 1887 until his death in 1919.
